Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
The short version: DoodleSpark ForKids is made for children, so we collect as little as possible. We don't ask children for personal information, we don't sell data, and drawings stay for your child to enjoy.
1. Who we are
DoodleSpark ForKids ("DoodleSpark", "we", "us") is based in Cork, Ireland. We are the controller of personal data processed through the DoodleSpark ForKids app (the "App") and this website (the "Site"). You can reach us at any time through our contact page.
2. Children's privacy
The App is designed for children. We follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Irish Data Protection Act 2018, the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google Play's Families Policy. In particular:
- We do not knowingly ask children to provide personal information such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, photos or location.
- The App has no chat, social sharing or public profiles.
- Any contact with us, including support requests and purchases, should be made by a parent or guardian.
- If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
3. Information we collect
Drawings and creations. Doodles and animations your child makes are processed to create the animation effect. They are stored on the device and are not sold or shared with advertisers.
Purchases. Purchases are processed by Google Play. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. We receive limited information from Google, such as confirmation that a purchase was made, so we can unlock the content you bought.
Advertising. The App may display ads using Google AdMob. For users in child-directed experiences, ads are configured as child-directed (non-personalised), meaning they are not based on a user's past behaviour or interests. AdMob may still process limited technical information (such as device type, operating system and an approximate, non-precise location derived from IP address) to deliver ads, measure performance and prevent fraud. See how Google uses information.
Technical and diagnostic data. We or our service providers may collect anonymous crash reports and basic usage statistics (for example, app version and device model) to fix bugs and improve the App.
Contacting us. If a parent or guardian contacts us through the Site, we collect the name, email address and message provided so we can respond.
Website. Our Site is hosted by Netlify, which may process standard server log data (such as IP address and browser type) for security and performance. The Site does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
4. How we use information
- To provide the App's features, including animating drawings.
- To process and restore purchases.
- To show child-appropriate, non-personalised ads.
- To fix bugs, keep the App secure and improve the experience.
- To reply to support requests from parents and guardians.
- To comply with legal obligations.
5. Legal bases (GDPR)
We rely on: performance of a contract (providing the App and purchases); our legitimate interests (keeping the App secure, fixing bugs and responding to questions); consent where required by law; and compliance with legal obligations.
6. Sharing information
We do not sell personal information. We only share limited information with trusted service providers who help us run the App and Site, such as Google (Google Play and AdMob) and Netlify (website hosting), or where required by law. These providers are bound by their own privacy and data protection obligations.
7. International transfers
Some service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.
8. How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above. Support messages are usually deleted within 24 months of the conversation ending. Drawings stored on a device are removed when you delete them or uninstall the App.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you (or a parent or guardian on a child's behalf) may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To make a request, please contact us. You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission or your local data protection authority.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work hard to keep your family's information safe.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, let you know through the App or Site.
